MoodboardReads helps you generate personalized book recommendations from the aesthetic style of a Pinterest board that you choose to analyze. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Pinterest sign-in and account information

When you sign in with Pinterest, Pinterest may provide us with basic account information such as your Pinterest account ID, name, username, profile information, and email address if Pinterest makes it available. We use this information to authenticate you and connect your saved reading lists to your app session.

Pinterest board and pin information

We request read-only access to your Pinterest boards and pins so we can show you your boards and let you choose one to analyze. When you choose a board, we may process the board ID, board name, board description, cover image, pin image URLs, and selected pin images from that board.

We use this Pinterest information only to provide the service to you. We do not publish, edit, delete, or save Pins to your Pinterest account. We do not store your full Pinterest board list or raw Pinterest pin images in our database after generating your reading list.

Generated reading-list information

We store the reading lists you create so you can return to them. This may include your app user ID, email address if available, generated reading-aesthetic title, generated description, generated search text, recommended books, unlock/payment status, Stripe checkout session ID, and creation/update dates.

Payment information

If you purchase an unlock, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number. Stripe may collect payment details, billing information, email address, transaction amount, payment status, fraud-prevention information, and related checkout information. We may receive and store payment status, your email address, and Stripe session identifiers so we can unlock your result and handle support, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, and legal obligations.

Optional email list and communications

Signing in with Pinterest does not automatically add you to a marketing email list. If we offer an email list and you choose to sign up, we may collect your email address, name, signup source, email preferences, and unsubscribe status. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

If you email us or otherwise contact us, we collect the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, and any support details needed to respond.

Analytics, cookies, logs, and technical information

We use essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, security, and basic app functionality.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand basic site usage, such as page views, referring pages, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device type. Vercel Web Analytics is designed to provide aggregated analytics without third-party cookies.

Our hosting providers and service providers may also process technical information such as IP address, request URLs, timestamps, browser information, error logs, security events, and performance data to run, secure, debug, and improve the service.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• authenticate you with Pinterest;
• show your available Pinterest boards;
• analyze the board you choose and generate a reading profile;
• recommend books that match your generated reading aesthetic;
• save reading lists so you can return to them;
• process payments and unlock paid results;
• provide support and respond to privacy requests;
• send optional emails if you separately sign up for them;
• measure basic site usage and improve the service;
• detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues;
• comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations; and
• protect our rights, users, and service.

AI processing

We use AI services to generate your reading profile and match it to books. For the board you choose, we may send selected board images and related prompt information to Google Gemini to generate your reading aesthetic. We may send generated reading-profile text, but not the raw board images, to Hugging Face to create an embedding used for book matching.

We do not use your Pinterest board images to train our own AI models. Our AI service providers process data according to their own terms, privacy policies, and data-processing settings.

AI-generated recommendations are for entertainment and discovery. They do not make legal, financial, employment, housing, credit, healthcare, or similarly significant decisions about you.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service, including with:

• Pinterest, for sign-in, authentication, and read-only board and pin access that you authorize.
• Google Gemini, for AI analysis of the board you choose.
• Hugging Face, for text embeddings used to match generated reading profiles to books.
• Supabase, for database storage of saved reading lists and related app data.
• Stripe, for checkout, payment processing, fraud prevention, and payment records.
• Vercel, for hosting, analytics, logs, performance, and security.
• Bookshop.org and other external book destinations, when you click an outbound book link. Some book links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them.
• Email or support providers, if we add an optional email list or support tooling.
• Professional advisers and authorities, when needed for legal, accounting, tax, security, compliance, or safety reasons.

Sales, sharing, and business transfers

We do not sell your personal information, rent or sell email lists, or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We also do not use Pinterest account information to target people with advertising outside of Pinterest.

If MoodboardReads is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. If a new owner wants to use your information in a materially different way, we will take steps to provide notice as required by law.

If we ever change our practices to sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or rent/sell an email list, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required opt-out or consent mechanism before doing so.

Your choices and privacy rights

• Delete a reading list: use the delete option in the app.
• Delete saved app data: use the account data delete option in the app or contact us.
• Revoke Pinterest access: you can manage connected apps and authorizations through Pinterest.
• Marketing emails: if you sign up for emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe instructions in the email or by contacting us.
• Access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection: depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
• Sale/share opt-out: we do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To make a privacy request, email emmit@getlexient.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights that apply to you.

Data retention

We keep saved reading lists until you delete them, delete your saved app data, or until we no longer need them to provide the service. We do not store raw Pinterest pin images in our database after analysis. Temporary processing, hosting, analytics, security, and error logs may be retained by us or our providers for limited periods.

Payment and transaction records may be retained by Stripe and by us as needed for payment processing, fraud prevention, chargebacks, tax, accounting, legal, and compliance purposes. If you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we may keep your email address on a suppression list so we can honor your unsubscribe request.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website, database, network, or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children and age limits

MoodboardReads is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to use the portions of the service that rely on Google Gemini. If you believe a child provided us with personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

International users

We and our service providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. If privacy laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply to your use of the service, our legal bases may include providing the service you request, your consent for optional marketing, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and compliance with legal obligations.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice, such as posting the updated policy on this page or providing another notice through the service.
